The Week that was.. December Week 3

Forever and a day – I have wanted to share more VIDEO on this little old blog of mine to even better connect with you, you beautiful soul, who shows up in this space with me to learn and laugh along with me in this crazy thing we call life. But forever and a day, just like you yourself sometimes let fear hold you back, I have let fear hold me back.

The crazy thing is, it’s not even fear like “what if no one watches it” or “what if I look silly” – I am by it’s very definition, silly, so I KNOW I will look silly haha. It’s just fear of finally committing to sitting in front of a camera and sharing more of what I want to share, or even knowing where to start when I SIT in front of that damn camera.

However, I have come to a beautiful – I don’t think I have seen it done anywhere which excites me – compromise. Driving in the car the other day with Morgan, laughing at some beautiful Direct Messages I was getting on my Instagram with the Instagram stories that I do (which are always just me goofing around in my daily life) – I said to my love in a moment of inspiration, “I am going to create a video each week of ‘the week that was’, made up of all my Instagram stories, and share it on the blog”. “Amazing idea baby” he said – and thus the weekly blog post of “The Week that Was”, was born.

I know many of you already follow me on Instagram – and I am so grateful for that, thank you for following along in this crazy world of Morgan and I’s – but I am also acutely aware, many do not. I am also acutely aware, much to some of our shock and surprise – some people don’t even HAVE Instagram (say whaaattttttt) – so this post is really for those 2 categories of people.

  1. The people that don’t have Instagram, and;
  2. The people who don’t follow Morgan or I on Instagram so this is all fresh content for them.

For those that DO follow me on Instagram already, you can just skim over this weekly post 😉 But of course if you still want to catch back up on the silliness that generally occurs by ALL means re watch. But for you guys, I promise I WILL start posting more vlogs, so blogs that are video’d vs written. As I DO know the power in them, and I WILL get over my own shit about it.

But for now, enjoy the new update to the blog / website in the weekly edition of…. The week that was.

Overcoming resistance … I’m back (daily – almost)

It’s 8:44am and I am sitting here looking out over the beautiful marina in my cozy little neighbourhood about to start this blog piece with a fresh new commitment to writing,

But immediately, the inevitable happens, what happens every time I go to write. Resistance slowly and sneakily takes over – and without even realising it, just under 10 minutes has passed and I realised I have been sitting here scrolling Instagram.

I silently tell myself ENOUGH in my mind, put my phone down and start to write.

And here I am.

Back to my happy place. Writing. And here you are, back at maybe your happy place of exploring the internet, reading it. Which I am so eternally grateful for. Always.

I started writing on my blog – ‘this’ blog (it’s had a major re brand from lifesshinyprettythings to annaandmorgan is all) in May of 2011, so on 23rd May of this year, I will have been sharing my life in this space for 6 years. Back when I started, I had a commitment to write almost daily. I would work 10+ hour days in Federal Politics, (sometimes 18+ hours if it was a Parliamentary sitting week), but every night, still get home and go in to my home office which I still so lovingly dub my zen den, and write in this space. Why? Because I love to write, it was and is writing that makes me happy.

You know those books and quotes and eye catching phrases that talk about finding the things where you can be doing it for hours and hours on end but have barely even noticed the time? That is writing to me. It’s of showing up to a blank piece of paper and just beginning to type or write and seeing what comes out.

And yet, somewhere along the way in this last 6 years, my commitment to daily writing has become almost non existent. I journal, sure, privately and almost daily – but it used to be those journal pages that I would share online, instead of writing in a book privately, I would write it on this blank white paper on the screen, in this space, and that is what made this space (in my opinion) so special.

So I am back.

Because I am done with the excuses of I don’t have time, or every.other.tiny.little.excuse that I throw up in my mind daily when I keep telling myself to sit and open that laptop with no wifi and just write. With no interruptions and before I do anything else in my day.

I can’t promise it will be every day, well actually no – I can. I can promise it will be every day, but I can’t promise it’ll be published every day.

My commitment is to show up to my blank pieces of paper on my screen and write NO MATTER WHAT – some days it might be absolute verbal vomit on a page – other days it might be the most profound or craziest thing I have shared. Most posts will make the cut I am sure, but some won’t. Either way we are back on this journey together.

Gone (finally) are the feelings that every single thing I write has to be a lesson for you or 5 steps to blah or content that you NEED to take something away from.

Now I so fully understand that the very practice of just showing up, daily, is a lesson for you in itself, to show up to the ONE thing YOU love, every single day, no matter what.

And the magic, the real magic of my writing and this space, is just that also, the fact that I DO show up as myself, always, and just share what’s on my heart – some days it may be lessons, other days I might be sharing the craziest day that happened whilst travelling the world, or hell, even talking about sex.

Just know this, I will write for as long as you show up to read, and even then, I will continue to write when you don’t.

I am so excited to go back on this journey with you, and can’t wait to see where it takes us both.

How to overcome your mind

You have, in your divine possession a weapon so powerful it could change everything for you. Your financial situation, your emotional situation, your wellbeing situation, whatever it is you can think of that isn’t working for you right now in life….this weapon could change.

I’m not talking something woo woo or evil either … I’m talking about your mind.

I’m sure you’ve heard it once before, maybe even a million times, but i’m here to put out a gentle reminder to your soul again – what you think you manifest and attract. Whether you like to believe or admit it or not – and maybe that is half the problem in the first place – your mind and thoughts create your reality.

You know those moments where you seem to say, ALOT, “god i KNEW that would happen, it always happens to me” … of course it does. Because you think it does so that is exactly what you attract. We are divine beings of light more powerful than you could ever imagine, and that mind o’ yours – it is there to manifest whatever it is you are choosing to put in there – be it good or bad thoughts or programs.

Have you ever tried to be complexly conscious of your thought? That is, gone a whole day and caught every negative thought that pops in to your head? There will be positive ones of course as well, but we want to try to change the negative ones to change your thought patterns and change your life.

Let’s begin shall we?

How to overcome your mind

1.  Acknowledge the thought

Catch every negative thought & write it down. Sure, this might be time consuming, and even a little painful but the purpose of this is for you to become consciously aware of just how many negative thoughts you are actually thinking.

2. Bring it up, and honour why you feel that way

You do this quickly. Every feeling wants to be felt, and generally a negative thought is attached to some sort of feeling. Bring that up, welcome it up in to your consciousness and thank it for coming but just know it’s time for it to leave, thank it for coming and send it on it’s way.

3. Replace it with a positive thought or different way of thinking

As soon as you have caught the negative thought, acknowledged it and sent it on it’s way, you need to immediately replace it with a positive one. Turn the ego talk from ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘there is no way I’m ever going to get this done’ in to one that comes from love, like; ‘I am worthy and I deserve love & happiness’ and ‘I have plenty of time and space in my life and this task will be done with ease and calm’ …. Can you feel the empowerment already? Negative thoughts disarm you, they instantly disempower and when your brain doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what isn’t, if you are telling yourself you’re not good enough or can’t do something, guess what it’s going to believe? SWITCH those thoughts. Banish the negative and welcome in the positive. Empowering thoughts, positive talk in your head, will instantly change your situation.

A good little tip that I live by; Don’t believe a single thought that isn’t positive.

Remember, we are always manifesting! ALWAYS!! Anything good in your life, you invited it in, and anything bad, you invited it in. Each of our thoughts creates an energy flow within and around our physical being, our brains can’t tell the difference between what is real and what is not, so you have the power to manifest the GOOD over the bad every single time.

Oh, and beautiful, one more thing …

Know the universe has your back.

You’re meant to be here, where you are, doing what you’re doing, having met who you met….TRUST THAT…and know the universe has your back 10000% … GET OUT OF THE UNIVERSES WAY. Don’t set big shiny intentions and get in to a place of having, then doubt…the universe is going to provide you what you need when you need it and when you trust it that much…life just works. Get in to that true place of having and knowing….when you’re in that place of knowing (KNOWING you will succeed and be happy and be loved and give love in return) … you don’t vibrate fear or disbelief. When you KNOW that you will be ok, you know that true happiness is yours, and you know you’ll succeed, the unvierse has your back and your mind becomes an ally, not the enemy.

You are love, light and a soul waiting to live it’s purpose and change the world. Let your mind guide you to that, not hold you back from it.

Wishing you days of positive thoughts, high energy and beautiful manifestations.

Psst; Before we begin, beautiful Em had this to say about this post – isn’t she a hunny? This post is dedicated to my number one. My mother and genuinely the most beautiful, kind, loving and compassionate soul I have ever met. This is my gift to you – a testimonial of utter belief in your dreams and a ‘permission slip’ to live YOUR life.

Introducing Emily…

Have you ever experienced that ‘buzz’? It’s the only way to describe it. A jolt of pure, unfiltered, unadulterated, raw, ecstatic happiness and bliss?

Get yo’ minds out of the gutter if you’re wandered into nasty territory – because today I’m talking Soulgasms. What exactly is a soulgasm you might ask? It is that exact moment in which your entire being lights up, you feel unstoppable, your potential seems immeasurable and you are absolutely glowing!
A few years ago these soulgasms were, for me, as elusive as unicorns and they occurred few and far between. Now, I get my hit daily. Whether it’s during a soulful conversation with a friend, sipping on a cup of green tea, running in the bush with my ever growing puppy or working solo on a project – these soulgasms are the universe’s way of telling you that you are on the right track.

These moments of pristine clarity, inspiration and elation are your birthright and you deserve to experience them every single dang day. Soulgasms are the result of complete alignment within your universe – they tell us that we are exactly where we are meant to be. Epiphanies, bursts of motivation and great ideas are all ‘foreplay’ for the great soulgasm that awaits. When we are aligned with our divine purpose, when we utilise the skills that we have been blessed with and we act and behave as an instrument of the higher power (whatever or whoever you believe that may be) the world around you completely changes and everything occurs in total and incredible synchronicity.

So you’ve just had your first soulgasm (you lucky thang) – now what?

      1)  Identify what instigated this incredible feeling? And nurture it as much as you can. Whether it’s an idea for a new business; spending time with loved ones; during your travels to distant lands … trust that this is where you’re meant to be. This is how you’re designed to feel. This is how you will actualise your authentic self.
     2) Manifest this feeling and welcome it into every moment of your life. Do more of what makes your soul soar. Get your ‘gasm on every day.
     3) Put it out there. Write it out baby. Grab your journal and jot down how you’re feeling, why you’re feeling it and how you will grow and maintain this feeling until your dying day. My favourite way to do this is by writing a journal entry that is written by my future self (No I haven’t lost my marbles, just bear with me and hear me out). I get comfortable and connect with that perfect version of myself, my authentic and true self. Then I get writing and I get specific. I.e ‘It’s 2014 and I cannot believe how incredible I feel every single day. I wake up beside the love of my life every morning, sit in the sun and enjoy my morning tea and give thanks for all that’s around me. My clinic is booming and I’m currently managing two staff members who have helped to bring in a 6 figure annual profit for the practise. I am writing every day and have an audience of loyal, inspiring, supportive and determined readers…’ The real entries are much longer and go into much more detail. But these are personal and can be just for your eyes. There are no rights or wrongs, no need to be a Shakespere-esque wordsmith, no restrictions or limitations whatsoever. You, your dreams, your journal and a sprinkle of universal magic. Perfection!

      4)  Action steps. Set this thang in motion. Feel like a certain someone has sparked your soul? Then book in a regular phone or coffee date with them to make sure you are granted a weekly soulgasm. Inspired and invigorated by a certain idea or concept? Then follow your heart and chase that feeling. Had an epiphany? Trust your gut and act on it.

     5) Lucky enough to experience multiple soulgasms? Well you are onto a winner. Stay on that path, do not back down and do not accept ‘no’. When you’re experiencing life as your authentic self and following your divine path, nothing in the whole entire world can stop you. In fact, it’s quite the opposite really. Once you set your intentions and choose to live a certain way, the universe conspires to see you achieve just that.
Believe in yourself as much as your best friend does; as much as your mother does; as much as I do. And with that sense of belief and enlightened sense of self and alignment – you can do anything.

I’ll leave you with an incredible quote. One which I have read over a majillion (yes that’s a word) times and it still ignites my spark and keeps me believing that I can do anything. Recite it, believe it and achieve it.

Blessings, love, laughter and rolling soulgasms x
